Introduction to the Department

Our college was established in 1986, before that it was functioning as District head quarters hospital. Dermatology op was functioning with one dermatologist at that time. Once college was established, we had a separate dermatology department with one professor and one assistant professor.STD department also was functioning with one professor and one assistant professor. Later on, the departments have been combined as per MCI Norms and functioning with twoprofessors / Associate Professor, one Assistant professor, one senior resident and one junior resident. Then, it was modified into one Associate Professor, one Assistant professor, one senior resident and one junior resident.

2. Q Switched Nd: YAG Laser for pigment removal & tattoo removal
3. Electro-cautery for removal of Warts, Acrochordons, Corn and Seborrheic keratosis
4. Coordinating with Plastic surgery department for Vitiligo & Nail surgeries

Future goals

1. Planning for a Dermato-Surgery wing in our department
2. Proposal for post-graduate in MD DVL in the next academic year
3. Requested the administration to procure CO2 Acne scar revision laser & Diode hair removal laser
4. ICMR STS research work in “Evaluation of Carotid intima-Media thickness in Psoriasis Patients” in pipeline for the next academic year
5. Plan to institute Gold Medal Exam for MBBS Undergraduates
6. Process has been initiated to coordinate with Plastic Surgery department to do Nail surgeries and Skin graft procedures for Vitiligo patients
7. Damien Leprosy Theory exam for final year has to be re-instituted which was stopped because of covid.
